Dermal fillers are injectable treatments to reduce the appearance of lines and folds. The results you achieve will depend on the area of the face which is treated, how much movement there is in the treated area, the condition of the skin and the skill of the person performing the treatment. Because of its highly favourable safety profile, Non-Animal Stabilised Hyaluronic Acid is used, a substance found naturally in the human body. It is fully biocompatible and degradable, and there is virtually no serious risk. Dermal fillers are injected beneath the skins surface to immediately restore volume and smooth out wrinkles.
It is our practice at both our Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands clinics to use Restylane and Juvederm products. These Hyaluronic Acid Fillers are used because they do not contain any animal derivatives, so there is no risk of animal-based disease transmission. No pre testing is required, but you should avoid aspirin and non- steroidal anti-inflammatory medication prior to treatment as this can lead to increased bleeding and bruising.
They are a clear gel that once injected beneath the skins surface adds volume and lift to smooth out wrinkles and folds. The Hyaluronic acid gel is almost identical to the body's own so it integrates into the dermal tissue then attracts and binds to water molecules to help maintain volume. It is gradually degraded by the body's own mechanism and disappears without any residue.
Topical anaesthetic cream will be applied to the treatment area and then local anaesthetic will be used to numb the area. Although the local anaesthetic injection will sting a little, no further discomfort will be felt after this. Please discuss your particular anaesthetic needs with your doctor at our UK dermal filler clinics before the procedure. We are prepared to give you sufficient time for topical or injection anaesthetic to work.

The most commonly reported side effects are temporary redness, itching, tenderness and swelling at the injection site. These effects typically resolve in 2 to 3 days. If you are prone to bleeding you may get a small puncture site bruise, and if you suffer from cold sores the injection may trigger a cold sore, so treatment would be given to avoid this. Rare side effects can include an acne type rash or discolouration at the injection site.
Yes. Generally we can dissolve this type of dermal filler if you are unhappy with the result.
Normal activity can resume immediately and make up can be applied after treatment. The area can be massaged firmly to smooth out any water that has been absorbed by the gel.
This treatment starts from £295.
