Breast Reduction in Guernsey & Jersey
Frequently those with larger breasts also find themselves restricted emotionally and in terms of their confidence, as a larger bosom can often get in the way of daily tasks, make finding clothing and underwear more difficult and strenuous, and prevent ease when it comes to exercise or simply lifting and moving about.
Common side effects of having larger breasts are back pain, sensitivity, redness and inflammation under the breast. With a relatively simple procedure that allows women to keep their shape and femininity, while improving their comfort and daily life, the Aesthetic Skin Clinic can modify the shape, size and feel of the breast to suit each patient.
Breast Reduction Surgery Steps in Guernsey & Jersey
Breast reduction surgery can be carried out in many different ways, and ASC seeks to provide the best solution for the presented concern and suitability of each patient. We deduce the best method at consultation stage, where you will be assessed and advised, opening up discussion on relevant medical history and your lifestyle.
There are four basic steps involved with breast reduction, including:
- Elevation: Taking into careful consideration the placement of the nipple/areola, a fine incision is made around the circumference to allow the repositioning of the nipple. This allows for a more natural result, because as the rest of the breast size and shape changes, the nipple has to reflect this and compliment these changes. The nipple remains attached to the underlying breast tissue, allowing for sensation to be maintained after the procedure. 9 out of 10 cases sensation is preserved, and women can go on to breast feed following the procedure.
- Reduction: We remove a variable amount of tissue from the lower breast and place the scar in the natural curve underneath.
- Glanduloplasty: Reducing the width of the breast, the tissue is shaped into a round cone.
- Skin tailoring: Usually in the design of an anchor shape, the scars are formed around the outside of the nipple, vertically from the nipple to the crease, then underneath the breast itself.
