Laser hair removal results

If you were lucky enough to get laser hair removal in time for summer, you might be wondering how to maintain your hairless areas to ensure they stay smooth and silky for as long as possible. We explore how to care for your treated areas for flawless and beautiful skin all year round.

A Brief Overview of Laser Hair Removal

If you are one of the lucky individuals with thick hair which grows relatively fast, we are jealous – it can offer wonderfully thick locks and a beautiful head of hair. However, it may not be such a blessing regarding the other parts of your body. Laser hair removal offers a long-term solution to preventing the need for regular removal of unwanted hairs from many areas. Our laser hair removal in Belfast, Guernsey and Jersey can solve unwanted hair growth in any body part, including the face, neck, feet, hands, and earlobes.

Laser hair removal process

For the best results, we recommend 6-10 treatments with a 4-6 week space between each clinic visit, as consistent laser hair removal treatments can provide you with the best results. The procedure time varies depending on the hair growth you wish to treat. The larger the area, the more time it will take. In addition, the pain is minimal, with many patients associating it with slight discomfort and heat but not unbearable.

What to Expect After the First Treatment

After your appointment, you may see slight redness and bumps in your treated area, but in a few hours, this should subside. Prolonged redness should disappear in a few days. Limiting exposure to direct sunlight before and after your treatment can help prevent any unusual complications.

What Should You Do After Laser Hair Removal Treatment

You can do several things to help you achieve the best results from your laser hair removal, for example:

Take a cool shower. Heat on the skin can cause it to become irritated. Thus, it would help if you opted for getting cooler showers in the few days following your procedure to protect your already vulnerable area.

Avoid the sun. Avoid sunbathing and any prolonged exposure to the sun for at least two weeks after your appointment. Whether it is the middle of winter or the height of summer, we always recommend applying at least SPF 30 to areas that have recently undergone laser hair removal.

Forget the wax or tweezers. Whether it is a missed hair or the reappearance of a dormant follicle, waxing and plucking can destroy the skin and hair follicles. However, shaving can be done within the first 24 hours of having any treatment. Waxing and plucking should be avoided entirely for the best results.

Keep away from beauty products. Your skin will remain fairly sensitive in the first few days after receiving your hair laser removal treatments, which can be irritated easily with scented or heavy products. Even deodorant should be avoided for at least 24 hours if you have been treated on your underarms.

Preparing for the Next Appointment

Prior to your next treatment, it is advised that you shave any new hair away with a regular razor. Although we have the facilities for dry shaves, to avoid any rashes or irritation, it is advised for patients to do this at home.

Is Laser Hair Removal Permanent?

Whilst the absence of hair is significantly noticeable after finishing your treatment. It is not a permanent solution, with many clients returning for top-ups every 12 months or more. However, what it does do is permanently reduce hair growth, meaning it comes back slower and finer than before. It makes the unwanted hair less noticeable and require much less regular attention.   Laser hair removal on the bikini line

For this reason, it is an ideal option for those who wish to regularly reduce the need for maintenance of hair growth. In addition, even if hairs return, they become much more manageable and less noticeable.
