Although most people look forward to the summer months, it can leave some feeling self-conscious about their image. After all, summer tends to mean a lot of exposed skin, such as with short sleeves or bikinis, which can be tricky for those who aren’t comfortable in their own skin at the moment.

At our Belfast cosmetic clinic, Guernsey cosmetic clinic and Jersey cosmetic clinic, we have been helping people get ready for the warmest season of the year by offering the best in aesthetic procedures. Take a look at the most common issues that make people nervous for summer and how we can help you fix them.

Stubborn Fat

One of the most widespread issue making men and women alike anxious for summer is stubborn fat. Sometimes, no matter how much you exercise, some pockets of fat simply won’t disappear. Common offenders tend to be areas like the thighs and the belly, where it’s usually more difficult to melt fat away. If you’re dreading summer due to this issue, don’t fret; we can help.

We provide a wide range of both surgical and nonsurgical procedures designed to get rid of these stubborn deposits of fat, so you can choose the one that is best suited for you.

Liposuction, the targeted removal of fat, can help you to achieve the look you’re seeking this summer. It can be performed anywhere on the body, including the face, and it’s suitable for both men and women. Because this is a surgical procedure, it will take a while to fully recover. You’ll have to wear pressure garments for 3 weeks and avoid strenuous exercise during this time; if you experience any numbness or tingling, this will likely be solved around the 6-month mark.

If you don’t wish to go under the knife and, therefore, avoid long downtime periods, Aqualyx Fat Removal, Cryolipolysis and Lipocel Body Contouring are great options. They use non-invasive methods to get rid of stubborn fat and tend to tighten the skin at the same time as well.

Aqualyx works through injections. This revolutionary treatment refers to the introduction of a strategic and measured amount of a fat-dissolving solution via cannula. The body breaks down the fat cells and, eventually, flushes them out.

Cryolipolysis, or fat freezing, cools unwanted fat cells in such a way as to trigger their death. This medical technology draws up and cools the body part you wish to treat without damaging surrounding tissues; as a bonus, this procedure will also contour your body.

As for Lipocel Body Contouring HIFU system, we use ultrasound and heat to break down fat cells, while protecting the skin at the same time. The procedure is a very precise technology that delivers energy specifically to the subcutaneous fat layer, raising the temperature of the fat cells to over 70oC. Lipocel sessions last only around 30 minutes, so you can pop into our clinic for a lunchtime treatment before heading back to work if you so wish.

Excessive Hair

Another common issue that can make people feel insecure or nervous come summertime is excessive hair. Many women (as well as men) have unwanted hair they wish to get rid of, especially if they want to show some skin. Having to shave constantly is a hassle, as well as time-consuming, and can actually lead to rashes and ingrown hairs if you use methods such razors or wax to remove excessive hair.

However, Laser Hair Removal can give you the results you’re looking for by permanently reducing the total number of body hairs. The procedure works by targeting the melanin in hair follicles through means of exposure to pulses of laser light that destroy these follicles. Most people require 6 to 8 sessions to achieve permanent results. In addition, it’s best to perform this treatment ahead of summer, as it’s not recommended that you expose your skin to the sun right before having a laser procedure. Otherwise, you risk burning your skin.

Excessive Sweating

Despite excessive sweating being a relatively common problem, summer brings with it higher temperatures and, of course, a higher chance of perspiration, which can make you feel self-conscious. If you suffer from this problem, also called hyperhidrosis, our Botox injections can help. By targeting the sweat glands, you’ll see a decrease in the amount of sweat secreted in the treated areas. While this isn’t a permanent solution, it’s a fantastic way to manage the issue for months at a time – and you can continue to undergo maintenance procedures. You can read more about this issue and how to fix it in our “Embarrassed About Your Excessive Sweating?” article.

At The Aesthetic Skin Clinic, we have many years of experience dealing with issues such as the ones above. With summer approaching fast, now is the time to fix them to feel confident when the time to hit the beach comes. Talk to us and our friendly and professional staff will be happy to help you.
