Acne, though common amongst adolescents, can occur at any point in an individual’s life and can have a massive impact on their way of life. At The Aesthetic Skin Clinic, we deliver professional, acne treatments in the Channel Islands to help ease the discomfort of acne sufferers.
We want to make sure that, no matter how old you are, you understand everything you can about your acne.
It Doesn’t Mean You’re Unhealthy
It’s a common misconception that acne is a result of an unhealthy lifestyle. Although spots and blemishes can occur through consuming too many oily and fatty foods, acne can occur at any stage of your life as a result of blocked hair follicles.
Acne, or Acne Vulgaris, is a common skin problem occurring in 8 out of 10 people between the ages of 11 to 30. During this time – as the body goes through puberty – the body produces more testosterone which increases the amount of sebum produced by the sebaceous glands. Sebaceous glands are responsible for producing oil which keeps your skin healthy, unfortunately – with a surge of testosterone – these glands can produce too much oil which blocks the glands located at the base of the hair follicles.
This is the most common cause of acne and is why a lot of people suffer from the skin condition during their teenage years. It is not, however, the only way in which acne can develop.
An imbalance in hormones – especially in women – can cause excessive amounts of oil to be produced, blocking sebaceous glands and forming acne. Acne can also be caused by bacteria, P Acnes, found on the skin
There are many ways in which you can treat the symptoms of acne, however, one of the more effective methods, we’ve found, is by using the Lustre Pure Light Treatment.
Lustre Pure Light Treatment uses blue light treatment, a technique used by many clinicians and dermatologists, is 100% safe and is specially designed for domestic use. The treatment works by targeting the P Acnes bacteria, killing them and reducing the inflammation of your skin.
