Removal of spider veins
The broken capillary is targeted with the needle at numerous points and the microwave energy is delivered to close the vessel down. The body will then heal the area after 10-14 days.
The use of topical anaesthesic pre treatment makes the procedure entirely tolerable and extremely effective. The procedure takes about 15-20 minutes, depending on how large the treated area is. Topical anaesthetic cream is applied to the area for a minimum of 30 minutes to reduce discomfort. Cold packs can also be used to make the treatment more comfortable, the area may feel inflamed following treatment but generally settles quickly.
Most people will experience some reddening in the treated area and this may be more marked or noticeable in patients with sensitive skin. After healing, in most cases, there is no visible sign that anything has been done to your skin. No need for bandages or painkillers, just avoid sun exposure until the redness has subsided.
Several advantages of Veinwave Therapy are very few risks and side effects, short recovery period and maximum effectiveness. Specific broken capillaries around the nose, cheeks and chin area may be more suitable for treatment by Veinwave than Intense Pulsed Light, or may even benefit from a combination of the two treatments. They may be in an area, which is more accessible by needle, or the vessels may be of such high calibre that they would bruise with the Intense Pulsed Light treatment.
This really depends on how many spider veins are treated and how large the areas are. Some people will do with only one session; others might need two to three. Discuss your specific situation with our team, to find a more accurate answer. The results are usually visible almost immediately, and they will improve within the next few days. The best part is that normally they’re permanent – once you get rid of the spider veins in a specific area, they probably won’t bother you again.
