Lanluma in Guernsey

Lanluma is a polylactic acid which occurs naturally and which helps to stimulate the bodies own production of collagen making the skin appear smoother and firmer.

Poly-L-lactic acid is a synthetic but biocompatible (not harmful to the body) material that has a decades-long history of being used safely for a variety of medical purposes, including threads for surgical stitches.

Using a cannula or needle, Lanluma is injected deep into the tissues by a specially trained, qualified practitioner. Initially the solution stimulates the production of new collagen and elastin within the supporting tissues creating a more full and firmer look. But as time goes by it also causes changes in the dermis, so the skin regains its previous elasticity and smoothness.

Lanluma has also been used to plump up skin depressions caused by scars, thus minimizing their appearance.

Lanluma is not recommended for lip enhancement (although it can help “lift” the corners of the mouth) or for use near the eyes. People who scar easily should use the treatment with caution. Multiple sessions may be desirable to obtain the desired volumisation or correction with top up treatments every couple of years to maintain results.

Immediately after having your Lanluma treatment you will see an improvement in the firmness of the skin. Within the next 2-3 weeks, the lines or laxity may appear to regress. You will be able to see the full effect approximately 4 to 6 weeks after having your treatment.

Because of the way Lanluma acts to stimulate the body’s own collagen, results can last much longer than other types of cosmetic fillers. Most patients should expect a sustained improvement for at least a year up to two years.
