Spider or Thread Veins

As we age, sometimes small, broken veins can appear on the face and body.

These veins, known commonly as ‘thread veins‘ or ‘spider veins‘ can be removed easily and effectively with Veinwave, sclerotherapy and laser energy. Patients seeking Thread vein removal may suffer with confidence issues due to their appearance.

Spider or thread veins appear as red, purple or blue in colour and are typically visible on the legs and the face. They are characterised by their fork lightning bolt appearance, and while many are distressed by their conspicuous nature, the prominent veins may also be painful and flag up circulation issues and develop into serious varicose veins.

Thread veins can be a caused by any of the following factors: genetics, pregnancy, prolonged periods of standing, obesity, hormones, cuts, exposure to sunlight etc. So if you’re feeling conscious about the look of broken veins on your face or on your body, we can help you remove them. Undergoing a thread vein Removal procedure can put the fun back into holidays,

One of the most common treatments to remove thread veins on the legs and thighs is sclerotherapy. This is a non-surgical procedure developed almost 150 years ago to eradicate unwanted, non-functional veins. The procedure involves the injection of a sterile sclerosing solution into the vein. The purpose of the solution is to produce irreversible and irreparable alteration to the vein. If this is achieved, the vein will ultimately be absorbed.

Lasers like the Nd:Yag can also be used to remove unsightly veins. Because the laser is set to a controlled wavelength, it only targets the blood vessels and not the surrounding skin. This enables the walls of the veins to collapse and be harmlessly absorbed by the body without causing any damage to the skin or surrounding tissue.

Veinwave is another treatment, which is used to treat facial thread veins, a small fine needle is inserted near or directly into the vessel and microwave energy is transmitted to close the vessel down.
