Fillers are a popular cosmetic treatment that can treat deep grooves and facial wrinkles to enhance a person’s facial features and restore lost volume. Volume deficiency can cause facial shadowing patterns that can make a person appear to look aged, so fillers work to restore this volume and bring a glowing, youthful appearance to the face.

Read on to find out more about fillers, how they work and where they can be injected.

What are Fillers?

The term “filler” is broad and encompasses many kinds of filler products with a range of different ingredients. At Aesthetic Skin Clinic, our dermal fillers are only Restylane and the Juvéderm range from Allergan, as these fillers are the most natural-looking and advanced dermal fillers available.

These particular fillers are made up of different molecular structures of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in our bodies responsible for water retention in the skin. When we introduce these kinds of fillers to the face, they add volume and integrate into the skin tissue itself to draw water to the area and lock in moisture. So you may notice that your skin also gets a hydration boost as a result and a reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Places Fillers Can Be Injected

Different areas of the face require a different approach with fillers and should be tailored to the treatment area, with delicate areas under the eye requiring a finer product. But there are several places on the face where fillers can be injected.

  • Upper Face

The upper face encompasses the forehead and eyes. Forehead wrinkles and lines are a common problem for people. However, fillers are not typically recommended for the forehead. This is because the forehead has a vast array of blood vessels that can be negatively impacted by fillers, and due to the range of movement in the forehead area, filler injections can often lead to unnatural looking results.

The area around the eyes, crow’s feet, are also not typically treated with fillers for the same reasons. But the region under the eyes, called tear troughs, can be treated with filler – but with a finer product that will not bulge or look noticeable. The filler helps to camouflage bags under the eyes or fill out hollows that have developed.

A more appropriate treatment for fine lines on the forehead and crow’s feet around the eyes are anti-wrinkle injections. At ASC, we offer anti-wrinkle treatments in Jersey, anti-wrinkle treatments in Guernsey and anti-wrinkle treatments in Belfast.

  • Midface

The midface mainly encompasses the cheeks, around the nose and cheekbones, which are areas that can really benefit from fillers. Fillers can be used to give more pronounced cheekbones and help hide the more undesired features of the nose. They can treat nasolabial folds for non-surgical rhinoplasty, which will give a rejuvenated appearance.

Skin can appear healthier and more moisturised, creating a lifted, more volumised look. Cheekbones, in particular, can be contoured with fillers to give them a more chiselled look that will add a youthful plumpness to the skin.

  • Lower Face

The lower face covers the lips, chin and jaw, which are all areas that can be dramatically improved with the right kind of filler application. The jawline and chin can be smoothed out and contoured, so they are proportionate with the lips and nose and can also create an optical illusion that makes the neck appear more youthful.

Frown lines and smoker’s lines can also be tackled by fillers, filling in those wrinkles around the mouth. They can help to reshape or plump the lips, depending on what kind of look you are after. Whatever facial concerns you have, fillers can be used to help plump, volumise and sculpt the face in various spots to help give you the youthful appearance you want. Our expert consultants are on hand to guide you through the whole process.

Dermal Fillers from ASC

At ASC, we only used the most innovative techniques for all our cosmetic treatments. Our dermal fillers are entirely safe and can restore your skin’s volume and smooth out wrinkles. We use a topical anaesthetic cream to numb the injection area to reduce discomfort, and you will see instant results that will last for up to six months or longer.

Our dermal fillers are also typically reversible, so we can usually dissolve the filer if you are unhappy with the result. There is virtually no downtime, and you can resume regular activity immediately after treatment, including wearing make-up.

We offer dermal fillers in Jersey, dermal fillers in Guernsey and dermal fillers in Belfast. If you’d like to learn more about our fillers or any of our surgical or non-surgical cosmetic treatments, do not hesitate to contact us by phone, email or by filling out our online contact form.
