"When I first arrived at the Aesthetic Skin Clinic, I like many others, didn't know what to expect. Admittedly, I was slightly nervous. Media horror images of the dreaded trout pout and tight faces, sprang to mind. On the other hand, I was after a subtle effect. An improved, slightly younger looking me, yes. The Michael Jackson look, no. But after my first consultation, I was swiftly put at ease and all those images melted away. I knew I was in safe hands.
I first came to the Clinic when it was based by the side of the Co-op in St Peter's, Jersey. I was 34 and was just getting over a messy relationship breakdown with the father of my then eight-year-old son. I felt I needed a boost.
Dr Curran at the Clinic gave me a thorough consultation and I decided on botox. Days later I could feel the effects kicking in and the lines on my forehead were reduced. A frown line above the bridge of my nose was more ironed out. Although it felt strange at first when I tried to laugh or smile, I was pleased with the results. I now go twice a year for botox. My frown lines are few and far between and I have a slightly younger, fresher look. When I go back to visit my home town of Ipswich, my friends say I look just the same as when I left it six years ago. Little do they know my secret!!!
Since that first visit, I have had Fraxel, to reduce the bags under my eyes - again with great results, fillers around my mouth area, and thermage - which was fantastic! It felt a little hot when the laser was on, but produced wonderful results for me. That very same day after my thermage treatment I could see my double chin had reduced, my neck was lifted and lines between my nose and mouth were ironed out. What a result!
Two years ago I left Jersey for a few months to care for my 63-year-old mother, who had ovarian cancer. Ever the ecccentric, shortly before she died she told me that she had IPL to remove a sunspot on her forehead. "It's completely gone. If you have a chance to get anything like that done. Do it. Just do it. Get it done. That's my advice to you, " she said with her slight Yorskshire accent. It was a strange thing to say at the time, but that was mum. Ever glamorous to the end.
I now have a new partner who I met on a yoga holiday in Turkey, which I took after my mum passed away. I have since bought a flat there and split my time between Turkey and Jersey. And to counteract the sun damage, I use Obaji products! That was hard to progress with because it causes a peeling effect in the early stages of treatment. But I stuck with it and I am glad I did. My skin is has a glowing, fresh look. The products last such a long time too, so you really do get good value with them. My freckles are far less obvious and I have noticed lines on my face have significantly reduced too.
I feel very comfortable when I visit the clinic as I know I am in very safe hands. The staff talk through what results you would like to achieve and are always ready to answer any questions you have. You are given full information before any treatment, so you know just what to expect which is extremely reassuring. And as Dr Curren has so much experience working on so many patients, you know you will receive the best treatment.
I don't know how much this all helped in attracting my new partner, I'd like to think it was my sparkling personality. But what I do know is, that it gave me the confidence to pick myself up and turn a former relationship breakdown into a new and better beginning!"

"Mirror mirror on the wall I don't like looking at me anymore

And although I'm not cross I seem to look grumpy
My jowls are befriending my chins never ending
So to ASC my face I am sending
I sit in the waiting room with coffee provided

In to the consulting room I am then led, I sit on a chair (and not on the bed)
The doctor is very polite as he examines my face
And kindly reasurres me I am not a hopeless case

Just finally having somewhere in Belfast to go for advice and
treatments is wonderful. I got IPL on broken capillaries on my Decolletage / chest area, which allowed me to wear sun tops last summer, instead of covering up. I also asked for advice when I was there on further vein / thread vein treatments for my legs which would finally allow me to wear skirts... I am 41 and reaching the age where I don't want to put up with areas I'm not happy with any more - I've had my children - now its time for me to look the best I can for the age I I am. Any treatment which adds confidence and makes day to day dressing easier and more fun is worthwhile for everyone.

"Watch any TV programme and you would be forgiven in thinking that women are divided into two quite distinct camps - down trodden housewives and high powered aggressive businesswomen.

"I've been seeing Dr Curran and his team for approximately 10 years. I first visited him for help with medication induced acne that he treated with IPL laser and Retin A creams. I believe I was one of the first people in Jersey to have Fraxel treatment, which I had to help correct some leftover scarring from acne. I continued seeing Dr Curran over the years and have continued to use the Obagi range of products which are excellent for protecting, renewing and brightening the skin.
I got married on New Year's Eve 2010 and visited Dr Curran in September of that year to embark upon a 'wedding preparation' of my skin. I wanted to look radiant, glowing (and maybe a few years younger than my 36 years!) and we embarked upon a series of IPL treatments to tone and refresh my skin. I was also introduced to the Obagi Clenziderm range of products, which became a lifeline in that I would apply the serum at night and feel confident that any acne pimples about to pop up to cause havoc would be eradicated as I slept. I can remember Dr Curran telling me that "you will be very happy with your skin by your wedding day". I can wholeheartedly say I was! I had always been conscious of the pimples I got and the red marks they left behind, as well as the hyperpigmentation I had on my face due to over-tanning in earlier years. I didn't want to be 'masked' in makeup on my wedding day as I wanted to have a natural look. With Dr Curran's expertise and the care of the nurses at the Aesthetic Skin Clinic I was able to get married feeling totally confident and comfortable in my own skin and had countless compliments about my 'glowing healthy looking skin'.

"I am a single Parent who lost her soul mate through Cancer. I have a 14 year old Daughter, well 15 in March, who is adorable. We have had it very rough and tough but have managed to come through it all. Now stress plays a big part on your face. I think it is Important for me to try to stay looking young for not only myself but for my Daughter too. I think she likes to have a young trendy looking Mum. I go to the gym 3 times per week to keep my body looking fit and younger... Now as for my face and hands this is where John and Hayley do their magic. since meeting these two wonderful people they have transformed my face. neck, chest and hands. With Botox and fillers, I have had the Voluma which changed my face amazingly, it took years off of me. Everyone said how well and young I looked .I felt wonderful. I have been trying to save for the Thermage but my Daughter Jessica needs extra lessons to help her in English and Maths. Which is costing me £50 per week? Now some people would be selfish and put themselves first but my Jessica’s future is important as she wants to go to Art College she needs 5 G C E ‘S

I think it would take years off my face and make my life feel good again.

I came to the clinic at a low point in my life…. looking for a treatment I had read about in an article, hoping it might help me feel better about myself. Dr Curran was friendly approachable and professional. He advised against a particular treatment and recommended another more suitable treatment. It is now almost five years later and the treatments I’ve had are wonderful. I can’t thank John and his wonderful team enough--- Highly recommended!!!

I find the staff very supportive and professional and reassuring! I like John to advise of new treatments and products available and possibly suggest a long-term maintenance schedule. Ideally, including a repayment programme by direct debit.

I have been coming to Dr Curran and the girls for at least five years. Although these meetings always involve needles and weird and wonderful machines, it is always a pleasure!
